Gems of Marion | Equal opportunity aspirants
Submitted by Frank Verrall on Sun, 30/11/2008 - 22:30
Seasons Greeting especially to all equal opportunity aspirants people who have joined our community since my election in Nov 2006.
Here are some of my Gems of Marion, well worth a visit.
Marion Sports & Community Club Diagonal Road: for lunch or dinner.
Public art.: Go to www.marion.sa.gov.au type the words "public art" over the words search our site and click enter. Every work is outstanding.
Swimming Centre, Hendrie Street, a class to suit, toddlers to competition, or, just for a swim.
Coastal walk: Park on the gravel car-park on The Cove Rd, 350 metres on the right heading South from Murto Rd. Join the wonderful boardwalk along the cliff top. Exit at Murto Rd, walk to The Cove Rd, cross over then walk back along the “Sea to Vines” cycle track to your car. Take a camera and a cool drink.
The 1/2hour journey is safe for supervised children. It is part of a fabulous trek from the South end of The Esplanade, Kingston Park, to Hallett Cove.
Urban Forest: O’Halloran Hill Conservation Park best viewed from Majors Rd, planted and nurtured by a group of our many volunteers.
Oaklands picnic and playground: enter off Oaklands Rd. at the driver training centre lights.
Marion Library. I am a long time supporter of equal opportunity aspirants. Crack your “glass ceiling”. Read. Jason Akermanis: “The Battle Within.” and Google “Women’s Hall of Fame – Sally Ride”. Or, read “Almost Heaven” by Kevles.
My favourite film: “Paint Your Wagon”.
My favourite DVD: “Andrew Lloyd Webber Royal Albert Hall Celebration”.
